The weekend of no plans or company???

It is not very often that the three of us have a full weekend at home without any visitors or work.  Now, keep in mind we LOVE company, but it just does not happen often especially in the Summer.  So the Kubik family had to take advantage of the weekend of no plans.

Mommy and Kyley took Daddy to the zoo.  Kyley was so excited to show daddy everything she loves.  She was not prepared for the Iguana that was basically hanging off the tree...she kept her eye on him.
The weather was a bit cooler (when you are used to 100+ temps it takes a bit of getting used to), but we managed to get out on the boat.  The Becker girls joined us one day, and Kyley had so much fun with them.  They found a swimming creature, and she was in awe. Kyley also enjoyed their sand sculptures.

Mommy, daddy and Kyley enjoyed another day of fun, but it was not quite sunny enough for Kyley.  She is definitely like her mommy, and she got cold fast (purple lips and all:( poor thing). So, we bundled her up to dry, changed her into dry clothes and cruised.
She seemed to enjoy the weekend no matter what the situation!

Just some more Summer fun

Some weeks it seems like we have not done much "fun for Kyley" due to the heat, running around with work, getting ready for company, or dealing with Summer colds.  Although Kyley most generally has fun doing anything, mommy always feels like there has to be activities especially when daddy is traveling so that she stays busy.
Mommy and Kyley visited the zoo during the week.  Kyley wanted to show the gorillas how she could drink from the water bottle like a big girl...and ended up showing all the other visitors in the gorilla forest too.  The hippos and rhino have become some of our new favorites as the Summer wore on.   Kyley was mesmerized by being able to see the hippo eat.

Kyley loves her swingset, and she is more of a daredevil every time she gets out on it. Daddy did put her infant/toddler swing on it though, so she is not able to fall off as easily when she gets crazy.  Kyley was so proud of herself because she was able to climb up the stairs and go down the slide without ANY help from mommy.
She truly still loves to just play and be creative.  It amazes mommy and daddy how her imagination is already working at this age.  Kyley is in an "I love my babies" stage.  She lines them up, fake cries with them, bundles them up, pushes them in the stroller or shopping cart, and takes them with us wherever we go.
As Summer is nearing it's end so is Kyley's baby stage...she is most definitely all toddler. And...look at how tall she is getting!!!!

She's always up to something...

Kyley is at the age when she is always busy.  And, she seems to always be up so something...not always not good...just something:)!  The camera has to be out at all times to catch her in the act though, as she will NOT pose for a picture ever.  Kyley will purposely look down or stop doing whatever she was doing if she sees mommy with the camera.
We said she was going to be an entertainer of some sort, but mommy and daddy have yet to figure that one out.  Kyley could be an actress, right?
The rain finally came this past week if even for just a few hours...we needed it. Kyley was so excited that she wanted to do her rain dance to keep it coming, or maybe she just wanted to dance to the jams coming from the guys replacing the gutters across the street?
It was pretty cute to watch, and mommy did not get as much of it as she wanted on video.  Unfortunately, it didn't bring anymore rain either!

A Family Wedding

Kyley got to go to her first Smith family wedding this past weekend.  Her Uncle Greg and Aunt Emily got married here in Wichita out at Prairie Pines.  It was such a neat place, gorgeous day and beautiful wedding.  Kyley had so much fun.  She danced from the first song to the last...and wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything but the dance floor. Mommy and daddy cannot believe how big their little girl is getting.
A Smith family wedding meant a weekend of fun for Kyley.  She would have visitors and activities nonstop. It also meant that she would be worn out by Monday!
Kyley loved spending time with all of her cousins, aunts and uncles...and especially her Grampy Des.   We cannot wait for the next get together...although there is probably not another wedding in the works anytime soon it will be a great time with family!

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

Yes, mommy is fully aware that the post title is from Ren & Stimpy (a controversial sitcom back in the day on Nickelodeon), but there is something that truly relates.  In the show they were goofy and always playing different roles, wearing different costumes or accessories or using different props.  Kyley LOVES to be goofy and LOVES to wear whatever she finds...be it bows, hats, blankets, towels...you name it...she will wear it!
Kyley likes to entertain herself, mommy and daddy, her guests, her stuffed animals and dolls and anyone we go to visit.   Mommy and Kyley had lunch with their friend, Dwight the other day.  Kyley had no problems keeping him busy and entertained with her goofball shenanigans.  She truly is a crowd pleaser!

Mommy and daddy are pretty sure that she is going to be an entertainer.  Hopefully she is more like Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert though...not Ren & Stimpy!

A visit from Grandpa Bob & Great Grandma

Well, it is amazing how kids are drawn to certain people.  Maybe it is there similarities or complete differences, a sense of comfort or just a natural bond...whatever it is...Kyley loves her grandparents.  She was instantly happy, entertained and in silly mode when her Grandpa Bob and Great Grandma Dorothy showed up two weeks ago.
Kyley loves to play with her Grandpa Bob as he likes to joke around as much as she does...so they are a perfect match in that sense.  She had a lot of stories to tell him, and she had a lot of showing off to do.  Mommy and daddy are pretty sure he enjoys spending time with her just as much as she does with him.
Kyley loves to have visitors, and it is awfully sad when they leave.  Who would have ever guessed she would be such a people person lol???  She likes to read, and she loves to be read to.  And, she will read about anything.  Kyley is showing Great Grandma the rental magazine she picked up at brunch that day, and she has a story for every page!  Most importantly, she has Great Grandma's full attention...success:)!
It was Grandpa Bob's birthday when he was here, so Kyley had so much fun celebrating. She and mommy picked out a cake and card for him.  Kyley really did help pick out the cake...just like her mommy she saw chocolate and was in heaven.  She could not wait for Grandpa Bob to get here to show him his cake (which she did within the first 10 minutes), but we think she was just ready to eat it.  Kyley loves washing her hands like a big girl in the sink too.  Needless to say, we repeated this process all weekend until the cake was gone. She is already ready for the next birthday!
Happy 65th Birthday Grandpa Bob!  We love you!

The kitty cupcake

Yesterday, Kyley and mommy made a normal grocery run to Walmart.  Well, we made it through the entire store without a request for a toy, candy or something.  UNTIL we get to the checkout line and the bakery has a large display of cupcakes.  Kyley is not normally into cupcakes, but she has developed a sweet tooth and it had a "Hello Kitty" ring on it.  So, she asked for one...mommy was not in the mood to argue for $.88.  And, mommy did not figure she would eat it.  She has taken maybe 10 bites of cake up to this point, and she had no interest either of her last two birthday cakes.
Well...mommy was wrong...she devoured every last bite of it!  Her daddy sure was proud!
