It's Gilligan...and the Skipper too!

Well, it looks a bit like Gilligan anyway!  Last weekend we were able to get out for some much needed boat rides.  Kyley continues to love the boat and the outdoors.  She is getting a little bit harder to contain as she is mobile and wants to explore, but it is worth letting her for picture moments like these.

The little things she is learning

Kyley is getting really good at using the spoon to feed herself.  Mommy and daddy didn't give her a chance for a while there, and we realized how important it was for her to feed herself.  Well, we are so happy that she has a good memory!

She wants to walk all the time.  Actually, Kyley thinks she can walk and let's go or turns so fast some times thinking that everything will be okay.  Daddy and Kyley have so much fun "playing"  a little game where he works with her on standing alone.  She does SO well with it, but she doesn't realize it until he shows her how much she can really do.  And, all mommy has to do is say "do you want to walk" and Kyley is off (holding hands of course).  Believe me...we are in no hurry for her to walk as we do not want her to grow up any faster, but we also know it is good for her development.

Kyley also has learned that there is a whole other world downstairs that she wants to get to all the time.  She also remembers that she has toys down there, so she is slowly learning how much she dislikes the gate.

And mommy and daddy have learned that she is seriously "attached" to her little doll.  What Kyley does not know now (she will learn later in life) is that mommy bought a "duplicate" this week at Dillon's in case we lost her baby again.  Mommy already had to drive around the neighbor once on a Saturday night after she threw her out of her wagon.

We all keep learning, right?

Thomas

Thomas the train was a hand me down that Grandma Denise had purchased.  We had borrowed it to the Miller boys for a few months as they are in LOVE with Thomas, and Kyley was not quite ready for it.   Well, they brought him back on Saturday.  We did not know what she would think, and we should have know better due to her love for cars.  Kyley was in heaven.  She was all smiles, and she just kept playing the music over and over (like another little boy I know;)!

Not sure where we are going to set the track up...maybe it is time for daddy to lose the pool table!

Date Night

Mommy and daddy like to get out, but they enjoy taking Kyley out too.  Last Friday night was a date night with daddy! Dinner may be a bit "quicker" than normal, but she is a great little dinner date.  A pretty cute one too!

She has her "special" drawers...

So, we were not sure if we were going to child proof all of the cabinet drawers and cupboard doors.  We waited until we were chasing her down every 5 seconds as she was into several of her favorites repeatedly.  Kyley made the decision easy for us...we had to do it.  Her Uncle Greg gave us the idea to use the magnetic locks so that she would not even be able to slam her fingers in them once it was all said and done.  They are the best thing ever, but boy does she hate them.  She gets so frustrated if she sees me open a door and then when she tries she cannot do it.

There really was only one solution...give Kyley her own special drawers.  She has two in the kitchen.  The towel drawer and her dish drawer are free game.   And, she has one in our bathroom...mommy's fun drawer.  It is keeping her out of trouble, so I do not mind cleaning up the mess after she is through.  It is better than her hurting herself or getting into something dangerous.  Well, I guess she can still hurt herself as we have a bump and scratch to prove it...the first of many to come I am sure.

She is just having fun being a kid...nothing matters more!

So what else has Kyley been up to....???

Kyley is truly a busy body.  She doesn't often stop long enough to pose for a picture for mommy, but after about 20 attempts a few are successful.

She spends more time "walking" her walker than she does in it.  Plus, she knows there is always a Cheerios stash there.

Kyley also walks the chairs and her high chair.

She continues to explore new areas of the house, and man oh man is she fast.

Reading books is one of her favorite things to do, and she eats them too;)!

Kyley continues to love dancing with her daddy, and they have their special "dance" during Happy Feet that mommy just cannot seem to do right.

Mommy and Kyley have their weekly date at the zoo and "Waterbabies" swim class at the YMCA.  She loves them both, and so does mommy! We really wish time would slow down...she is growing up too fast!

A quick and busy weekend in good ol' Nebraska

Last weekend we headed back to Nebraska for a weekend filled with family fun!  It was a very quick trip there late on Friday and back on Sunday, but it was so worth it!  Kyley was a wonderful traveler.  She loves her movies and she now sleeps in the car all on her own.

Saturday we got to join Grandpa Des for lunch, and Kyley was so happy to see him!  We sure wish we lived closer, but we will take what we can get!  Aunt Mallory and Uncle Mike also joined us.  Then, we headed back to Lincoln for the Nebraska football game party at Aunt Nola's house.  The most fun part about it was that Kyley got to help celebrate her cousin, Stella's 1st birthday.  Stella was very successful with her smash cake.  She demolished that poor cake!

My oh my did the three girls (yep, cousin Calyn was there too) have so much fun.  They played, wrestled and got into lots of trouble together.  They are at an age that did not allow us to get the fun picture of all 3 of them...1 of them was always on the move.  But, we sure did catch them doing a lot of cute and funny things.

Wow, did these girls wear out their mommies and daddies.

The weekend was not over.  Sunday we had even more special fun planned.  We stopped in York on the way home to have brunch with Aunt Kimmy, Uncle Darby, Cousins Zane and Tori and Bootsie and Don.  Kyley had never been to Chances R with us (well once in mommy's tummy), and it was pretty special because we love meeting these guys there.   Plus, we had not seen them since her birthday party/Easter.  Kyley loved seeing her cousins, but she sure was entertained by her Cousin Zane...and I think he kinda was loving playing with her too.

For us the saying will always remain true...we always have such good times in good ol' Nebraska!!  Oh, and the Huskers pulled out another victory over Washington...3-0!
