Happy Thanksgiving a bit early!

Kyley just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of her friends and family!  We are all thankful to have all of you in our lives!  We hope everyone has safe travels and full bellies!

The Dynamic Duo

Yes, it is the Dynamic Duo at it again.

Calyn spent the day with Kyley and mommy on Monday, and we had so much fun.  Well, the girls had tons of fun causing trouble, giggling, playing and such...mommy had her hands full!  Now that Kyley is walking too, it made things a bit more interesting.

These two girls continue to entertain each other more and more each day.  Calyn was at the house when Kyley woke up, and it took all mommy had to contain her when she saw Calyn.  They never seem to get enough of each other, and they continue to interact more and more all the time.

What a great way to start out Thanksgiving week...we are so thankful for Kyley's cousin Calyn!

Our little daredevil!

If Kyley isn't our scholar or maybe even if she is...we always said that Kyley was going to be our daredevil or play some extreme sport.  She is always doing the silliest things that sometimes make us giggle and sometimes scare mommy and daddy just a tad.

Kyley also does quite a few things she is not supposed to do...and she does them with a smile.

Many times she does have some assistance from mommy and daddy, so I guess we cannot blame her for wanting to have some fun!

She's a walker!!!

WATCH OUT EVERYONE...she is officially a full time walker (as of Saturday the 19th).  Lock your cabinets, hide your valuables and close those doors...she is coming to destroy your homes;)!  If she learns to drive like she walks, we are in big trouble some day!

Fun with friends

This past weekend Kyley got to do what she loves most...entertain some friends.  Not only does she get her mommy and daddy's attention she gets everyone else's too.  You would never know that this little girl barely knew that anyone other than mommy and daddy existed until April.  She acts shy at first, but I think that is just to suck people in with her sweet little charm.  Then, watch out as she will convince you that she can get away with murder...and you let her.  Vivian & Robert and Gretchen & Stan came over to visit as mommy and daddy don't get out much these days...why would they want to leave if they don't have to?  It is fun to include Kyley as she truly enjoys the people.  And, I think it is pretty obvious she won them all over.

The weekend then ended on a high note when Cousin Calyn came over to play.  Kyley showed Aunt Emily and Calyn how much she loved to read.  Calyn showed us all how cool she was in Kyley's sunglasses!  They truly are a couple of trouble makers!  Their newest trick is pushing each other in the car...could they have more fun together??

Thanks friends for a great weekend!

We barely made it two weeks

Well, it is that time of year.  The time of year that we strategically and carefully avoided exposing Kyley to last year.  Due to the fact that she is bigger and stronger, her pediatrician does not want us to shelter her all fall and winter.  And, he wants to help build her immune system with regular colds and such.  However, he still wants us to practice good hand washing and sanitizing along with avoiding situations where we would purposely expose her to something.

What this means for the Kubik household???  It means that we did not even make it two weeks without a cold:(!  Poor thing is making up for lost time!   We just have to keep remembering that she will be stronger and better off in the long run and that this is NORMAL!

Either way...since it is that time of year...just remember to do your part to keep the little ones healthy as can be.  Oh, and get your flu shots people;)...it cannot hurt...only in the arm for a few hours the next day!

Scholastic achiever or just likes to read???

Mommy and daddy seem to think that they have an overachiever on their hands.  They are already even talking schools.  But, it could just be that she likes to read, be read to and look at pictures.  Either way...other than "walk, walk" all Kyley wants to do is "read, read".  If she ever takes time to sit down she is not giving mommy and daddy a break that's for sure...she wants to read.

We read this box of Baby Einstein Alphabet books at a minimum 10 times per day.  And, she truly does repeat many of the words and recognizes the objects and associates them with words.  Kyley also loves any other picture/word books...animals on the farm, baby's first 100 words, etc.  She will make mommy and daddy "read, read" the same book over and over and over.  But, hey we are not complaining...at least she is interested in reading...must be like her momma!

Kyley's new trick

Daddy taught Kyley a new trick...well Baby Einstein's First Moves DVD helped out too.  She loves to kick the ball.  While this is a great skill for her to master...maybe walking first would have been good.  But, oh well...she knows what she is doing and has a great time doing it!

On the go...

Kyley is always on the go.  And, her energy seems to increase as she gets older.  She is always finding new and exciting things to do and see.  Mommy and daddy will definitely stay young with her around!

Gates are a necessity with any child, but as fast as she gets around...they are an absolute must...and they are even entertainment.

She does not let us rest.  All she wants to do is "walk, walk".  Kyley is not quite there yet but soon.  She has to get a bit more confidence and she will be doing it all on her own.  She has been letting go more and more and taking more steps, but she isn't fully walking.

Kyley has been on her own schedule since day 1...why would she change up the pattern now?

How do you say no to this face???

Like all or most little kids...Kyley loves cell phones.  And, she doesn't love just any phone.  It cannot be a toy phone or a non-working phone...how do they know this???  The problem is that she does not understand that you cannot chew on, suck on, step on, and drop them.  Mommy and daddy have already each had a phone fall victim to her abuse this year.  And, it is not a cheap toy for her to be playing with.

So, when I got my new phone early last month I made a vow that I would not let her play with it.  In fact, we took my old phone (yes I know I said she knows the difference) and we keep it charged for her.  AH HA...yes, we are trying to trick her so she thinks it is always working.  This does work most of the time.  However, we do not always get it on the charger over night because it gets misplaced in the craziness of all of her toys.  And then she sees the bright colors of my case and the "baby" picture on the screen (which is of course her)...and it goes down hill.

Mommy and daddy have both given in at times.  It is almost impossible to say no to this face???  Plus, mommy was smart this time...she bought insurance:)!
