The Griswold Family Vacation...almost

Yes, it is true...Kyley almost went on a Griswold Family Vacation.  We had booked a trip to Destin, FL for the 3 of us from August 30th-September 5th.  As that time approached Hurricane Isaac looked like he might have another plan in store for us.   So, being the planner mommy is she had to have a "backup" plan ready as we all know that hurricanes this time of year can devastate an area.  After many conversations about California or other last minute trip changes by plane, mommy and daddy decided if we couldn't go to Florida that we would get in the car and drive to Colorado.  And what would we do?  We would mostly figure it out when we got to the Denver area lol.  Needless to say, Isaac missed Destin, and we got to enjoy our wonderful family beach vacation.  Other than some wind the first day and rain the last day...the weather was to die for.

Kyley had so much more fun this year at the beach, because she could actually enjoy it.  She played in the sand with her daddy building sand castles, ran along the water, chased the birds, danced, and even met a friend, Charlie.  We happened to run into Charlie several days on the beach, and it was so amazing how well these two girls interacted.  Never a fuss, fight, or tear.
Kyley really seemed to enjoy swimming more this trip than she had all Summer too.  In fact she chose the pool over the beach several times, or we had to come back to the pool after the beach.  The best part was that it was right outside our patio door so it was hard to say no!
Mommy, daddy and Kyley went for a run every morning before they started their day. Kyley enjoyed seeing all of the other runners, bikers, dogs, golfers, etc.  We also did lots of dancing in the room every day before heading out for evening activities.  Other than 2 of the evenings we made our way to Baytowne Wharf.  Kyley loved listening to the "one man band" or as she called him "the man that played the guitar".  We went and listened to him sing and she sang and danced along...every night!  The Wharf also had a wishing fountain, arcade, shops, a carousel and lots of people to watch.

Kyley got to go on her first cruise in Destin.  It was a dolphin cruise, so she got to see dolphins swimming for the first time.  I think maybe mommy and daddy did too.  And, she really did get to see them...tons of them.  It was really hard to get pictures, but it was absolutely amazing.  Kyley also enjoyed feeding the seagulls "Fritos" off the back of the boat with daddy.  It was crazy to see them follow the boat just waiting for more.   She got to see lots of boats, kite surfers, dolphins, and lots of water:)!  It was a night to remember!

Well, the last day was not exactly how we had hoped it would be.  Kyley really wanted to go to the pool and the beach, but mother nature had different plans in store for us and it rained and poured ALL DAY LONG.  So, mommy and daddy did the next best thing...took her to arcades!  We all had so much fun, and she loved "winning" all the great toys!  The day was followed off with a stop at her favorite spot and dancing with her daddy.
It was a wonderful family vacation, and Kyley sure enjoyed every minute of it.  We were blessed with mostly great weather and a very stress free time.  If only we could do this more often:)????  Kyley would not mind!
