San Diego is still fun even if you are sick:(

Mommy, daddy and Kyley had planned a family get away for the New Year a few months back.  We thought we would all need the break from the cold, and we simply thought it would be fun to take Kyley to all the great places in San Diego...the zoo, Seaworld, Legoland, etc.  Well, the trip did not quite turn out as planned due to a cold that Kyley came down with over Christmas.  We took her to the doctor prior to going, but we were encouraged to keep our plans as there was not much we could do differently here or there.  Mommy and daddy were still trying to cancel last minute, but in the end we continued with our trip.  Kyley did wonderful on the flight out, however, her cold continued to get worse every day.  Thankfully, we got a lucky room upgrade and had a great view because little did we know we were going to be spending most of the time in our room.  Kyley loved her first bus ride from the airport to the hotel...no car seat!!

Her favorite thing to do was stand at the floor to ceiling windows in the room and watch people. When we did sneak out for a meal she managed to put a smile on her face and everyone else's even though she had a faucet for a nose and looked like Rudolph.

We visited Seaport Village the first night for a little fresh air, dinner and a carousel ride.  They were doing a Red Bull extreme sporting event there, so we got to see the set up and tear down.

 On New Year's Eve we went out for lunch to a burger joint, and then we headed back to the room for some rest.  Kyley just wasn't feeling good and needed to sleep. 

On New Year's Day Kyley was not feeling all that great, but after a long nap and some lunch we made an attempt to go to the San Diego Zoo.  She loved the birds, monkeys, gorillas, and pandas.  Again, she did not last too long but we were so glad we took her if even for a few hours.

Originally, we had big plans to watch the Nebraska bowl game at the best sports bar and grill near Petco Park.  As you can tell Kyley just kept getting worse, so we put on our gear and climbed back in bed.  She did manage to sleep most of the game so mommy and daddy actually got to watch the very depressing game, but we knew we made the right choice staying in!  We did manage to sneak out for some food and to check out the Hard Rock Hotel right across the street.  The fresh air always seemed to help!

 

The last day there we managed to get back out for a morning walk on the Pier and in Seaport Village.  Kyley and daddy saw some fun water creatures and there were lots of people to watch too.  We grabbed a quick lunch before heading back for a long afternoon nap, and Kyley colored her first ever picture.  She did such a great job!  We then had our 2nd dinner "out" the entire trip and mommy did a quick little bit of shopping! 

Kyley did well on the flight home too, but she was completely exhausted.  We truly managed to have a great time even though she was very sick.  It was just great to get away...the 3 of us and not have to worry about much for a few days!  We look forward to getting back there again soon to visit all the other great places!

Christmas in Nebraska

Kyley is truly the happiest little girl!  She is so full of giggles and smiles.  Christmas is definitely more fun and special with  her to celebrate it with.  Mommy, daddy and Kyley went back to Nebraska for Christmas weekend.  We are very blessed to have such wonderful families to share these memories with.

 Kyley had so much fun opening all of her presents and trying them out too!

 She really loved emptying her stocking and seeing the great presents that Santa brought her on Christmas morning. 

 Kyley had fun playing with her cousins toys too.  She may just be the tomboy her daddy wants her to be!

 Wait...maybe she will be mommy's girly girl princess after all?

 Even daddy had fun trying on Kyley's dress up clothes she got as a gift!

 Kids are so funny when they open presents...they always have expectations!

Kyley loves all her new baby dolls and gear.  She loves making the baby cry so she can feed it and give it a big kiss!


She even thought at one point that she was a puppy:)!  Mommy and daddy did not put her in there against her will...she wanted in it!

 Christmas was a great time in Nebraska.  How could it not be with all the presents, food and family?

Kyley had lots of new things to keep her occupied on the ride home!   However much fun it is to go visit, it is also great to go home!

Christmas in Wichita

Kyley had a great Christmas this year, and she was definitely more interested.  She started getting packages from family, and she immediately loved opening them.  Kyley also wanted everything "open" as soon as she unwrapped it.  She definitely was spoiled by all of her family!  She got to spend time with lots of great friends too!

Kyley, mommy and daddy celebrated their Christmas on the 22nd before they headed to Nebraska.  She got her first kitchen.  It was very obvious that we hit that one spot on...all of her favorite things to do and play with.  Kyley also got her first snow globe.  She loves to watch and listen to it!

This was just the beginning of the spoiling...by the time it was over our house looked like a toy store!

Some sad yet exciting news

Well, Kyley always loves spending time with her cousin Calyn as everyone knows.  We just recently found out that Uncle Greg, Aunt Emily and Calyn will be moving to Houston, TX.  We are very sad that they will not be close to us, but we are so excited that they have this great opportunity.  Uncle Greg's job is taking them South.  Kyley will just get to have more airplane rides or really long drives lol!  We will continue to enjoy every moment we can while they are still here too!  And, you never know they may end up back in Wichita in a few years???
