Nurse Holly

"You meet people who forget you.
You forget people you meet.
But sometimes you meet those people you can't forget.
Those are your friends."
 Author Unknown

Tuesday Kyley and mommy went to visit someone that has become very special to them.  Holly was one of Kyley's nurses in the NICU.  She went above and beyond her duties as a nurse to take care of Kyley and make sure the best choices were made for her.  Holly also had to put up with a lot of crap from Kyley's mommy and daddy for the 10 weeks she was in the NICU.  We are not sure if she really truly understands how much the things she did meant or mean to us.  What we do know is that whether she wants us or not, she made a family of lifelong friends:)!

Holly has a little boy named Logan who is almost 2.  And, the most exciting news is that she has another little man on the way.  She has been on bed rest for the past few weeks, so we decided to take her lunch and let Kyley and Logan have a "play date".  They were so cute together, and once again Kyley was passing out the kisses to another boy.  What will we do with her?

We cannot wait to meet Baby Boy Taylor and share many more fun times with all of them!

16 months

Kyley was 16 months old on Sunday the 28th (her daddy's birthday).  She had her well baby check up with Dr. Hund on Monday.  Outside of the shots she had to get that brought 2 out of the 3 of us to tears, everything was great.  He is very impressed with her progress and pleased with her growth.  She is in perfect proportion:).  Kyley's 16 month stats were as follows.
Weight:  20 lbs. 1 oz.
Height:  28 1/2 in.
Head Circumference:  44 1/2 cm.

This sure makes her birth stats seem impossible doesn't it??  She continues to amaze us!

What a big girl?

Look how tall she is getting!!!

Dance, Dance, Dance

Dance, Dance, Dance...Kyley loves to Dance.  And, she really loves to dance with her daddy.  It would be an odd night in our house if these two didn't dance at least once.  Kyley cannot get enough dancing.  There are certain parts of "Happy Feet" and certain songs that come on, and she is immediately chanting "dance, dance, dance" and throwing her arms up in the arm like she is dancing.  So Kyley and daddy dance and sometimes mommy too, but usually I sit back and watch them have their moments!

Roadtrip to Little Rock

Kyley has made the drive to Nebraska a handful of times, but we have never taken a road trip anywhere else until this past weekend.  We had made plans months ago to make the trip to see the Browns in Little Rock, AR for Austin's 3rd birthday.  This also happened to be her daddy's birthday weekend!  Actually, except for the fact that we couldn't travel last year...it has kind of become a tradition for us to make the trip to visit the Brown's on this weekend every year to celebrate their birthdays which are just 2 days apart!

Kyley and mommy patiently waited for daddy to get off of work so we could begin our journey South.  But as the day went on...we got a bit anxious...to make the longest drive she has taken yet.   As I was getting everything ready so we could hit the road as soon as he got home, she had to take her turn at the wheel;)!  She was ready to go!  It took us about 8 hours to get to their house with potty breaks, dinner stop, gas, and daddy's turnpike detour.  Overall, Kyley was a trooper.  She played, talked, watched a show or two and slept the last 4 hours of the trip.  However, she was wide awake the minute we pulled up to their house and ready to say hello to Lacy and Paul!

We always have so much fun with the Brown's, and we really wish they lived closer.  Kyley truly adores Austin, and she watched every move that he made.  She wanted to be doing whatever he was doing, and if she wasn't she was yelling at him for his attention.  Friday was Austin's actual birthday, so we went out to dinner with Lacy's family to celebrate.  When we came home we continued to celebrate with the cupacakes her mom had made for both of their birthdays.  Kyley loved singing to her daddy and Austin!

Saturday was the day of partying.  We started out the morning at a kiddie birthday party at a gym.  Kyley was not quite big enough to go play alone, but mommy took her in to check out a few things in the gym.  She also got to play basketball with her daddy.  Kyley loved watching all of the other kids, and you could just see it in her face how much she wanted to be running around with them.  Kyley had another first (so did her mommy)...Chik-fil-a...and she love, love, loved it (so did her mommy)!  She ate it up!  We need to figure out why there is not one in Wichita yet????

Austin's party was at the house late Saturday afternoon.  OMG...there were so many kids for Kyley to play with and watch.   We weren't sure she would know what to do with all of the people, but she wanted in on the action.  The only bad part about that is that she was the smallest one there and not quite as mobile as the rest of them:)!  Kyley could have cared less.  She was crawling in and out of everywhere and everyone.  She was in heaven.  She was living it up...our social butterfly and party girl!  By the time the day was done...Kyley was done.  I am not sure she had played that hard before.

Sunday came way to fast.  Time sure does fly when you are having fun.  However, there was still time for a little more fun and time to celebrate her daddy's birthday before we hit the road.  The Brown's made a yummy breakfast for her daddy, and Kyley had time to play with Austin just a little bit more.  When it was time to go she had no problems passing out more kisses goodbye...well to Austin anyway which she had been doing all weekend.  We better watch out...although we would arrange that marriage now if we could!

Then we were back on the road to home.  Kyley was once again a good little traveler despite the fact that she didn't sleep more than 40 minutes.  She enjoyed her toys, books and her favorite movie Happy Feet.  She wasn't impressed with my picture taking though.  I just wanted to capture this moment...her first real road trip and the end of our Summer travels.  Is the Summer really over???  If it is...at least we can say we had some fun times!!

Peek-A-Boo

Kyley has always loved playing peek-a-boo.  However, the tables have turned.  She loves to be the one hiding.  She will cover her eyes with any blanket, her clothes while changing her diaper or her hands.  It is so much fun to see her do this and to realize how well she knows her name.  It is amazing to me how fast kids learn in general  If she has her eyes covered and I say "where is mommy" she will immediately uncover them and look for me...and if I say "where is Kyley" she will then immediately cover her eyes...it is truly adorable.  Who knew peek-a-boo could be so much fun???

All the Small Things

Most of our days are filled with a very normal routine, but we have so much fun performing that routine.  And, you cannot imagine how much fun we have when we do something new on any given day.  It is those small things that matter and mean so much...where the memories are made.

Kyley is a chatterbox.  She loves all words that begin with B..."baby", "ball", 'bye", "bug", "bottle", and "bath" are some of her best words.  And, she loves all of those things dearly for different reasons.  But, I never imagined that she would love her bath so much.  We have to be very careful not to say bath if we are not going to give her one...and give her one soon for that matter.  She will repeatedly scream bath until she is in the bathtub.  If we walk by her bathroom...she starts saying bath.  Kyley cannot get enough of bath time.  I am just thrilled that she likes to be clean:) and enjoys being in the water.

She truly is going to be a daredevil.  She loves to swing and swing fast and high.  Kyley's favorite part of swinging is stopping and getting that first push all over again.  She is smart though and always holds on.  Her laughter and smiles while she is swinging cannot help but make you smile.

Kyley loves to be out in public.  We went out for lunch over the weekend, and she had so much fun.  I cannot believe how much this little girl loves seeing other people and how much she engages them...and they love her back.  She reminds me of her grandmother...they sure would have gotten along so well!

Just Sitting in My Chair

I have mentioned Kyley's chair before that she got with her birthday exchange money.  She is more and more obsessed with it all the time.  The scary part about that is that she pulls herself up on anything and everything, and she has no fear.  So, I stand and watch her facing her chair starting to climb up on it, kneeling on it, and as she is attempting to turn and sit....she realizes that she can rock.  We all know how this story ends.  Well, so far it has only ended that way one time.  I have been able to intercept the action and get her sitting before it is too late.  Kyley loves to sit in her Princess chair.  She will look at books, watch her show, play with her doll or any other toy she can reach (without tumbling forward which has also happened) or just sit and have a drink.  It almost makes me sad to see her sitting in her big girl chair...she doesn't look like my baby anymore.

Anyway, we finally decided to child proof the fireplace downstairs so that we could use the basement more often...as it is our favorite place to relax.  Well...honestly...our tv upstairs was at the appliance repair shop, and we couldn't live without tv any longer so our hand was forced lol!  With all that being said, I didn't want to drag her chair up and down the stairs all the time.  However, I did not have to as she found another chair.  She does not have the same love for this chair, but it sure entertains her and she loves to sit in it too!

I am just happy that Kyley takes some time to relax for a bit, because these days she is on the go, go, go!  Before we know it she will be too big to fit in these chairs but we will not forget how innocent and cute she looked sitting in them!
